The network took advantage of three-color tourism last year, even recording better performance than before the pandemic.
Gîtes de France announces that it has recorded very good performance in 2021. With more than 303 million nights sold and 5 million holidaymakers welcomed, the network thus shows an increase of 25% compared to 2020. The volume of business, of its side, reached 600 million euros, a figure up 20% compared to 2019, now a benchmark year for the industry. It is therefore better than before the pandemic, the network having benefited from local tourism. The regions having recorded the best progress are Haute Loire, Indre, Cher, Lozère, Gironde, Corrèze, Pas de Calais, Gard, Orne, Meurthe-et-Moselle and Ardèche , details Gîtes de France. This exceptional growth enabled the network to collect 18.5 million euros through the tourist tax, amount directly donated directly to French municipalities and which will benefit the local economy, underlines the network. Gîtes de France also indicates that more than 5,000 new accommodations joined the network in 2021. 50,000 accommodations – gîtes, bed and breakfasts, campsites, group gîtes, stopover gîtes, etc. – are currently approved by the network.
