The hotel group announces the restructuring of its brands into two distinct divisions, an operation which should be operational from October.
Except surprise, Sébastien Bazin should keep the reins of Accor for several more years. The hotel group announced on Tuesday that the board of directors has “unanimously decided to propose the renewal” of its mandate. A renewal on the agenda of the next general meeting of the group, Accor, which will take place in May 2023.
Sébastien Bazin has been at the head of the Accor group since 2013. Over the next few years, his main mission will be to lead the reorganization of the group unveiled on Wednesday. Restructuring into two distinct business lines with, on one side, the “Economy, Midscale & Premium” division, which will notably bring together the ibis, Novotel, Mercure, Swissôtel, Mövenpick and Pullman brands, and will rely on 4 major regions. This division “will focus its strategy on accelerating its development, in particular through franchising, rejuvenating its brands and industrializing its operational model,” explains the hotel group.
Strengthen the attractiveness of the group
On the other hand, the “Luxury & Lifestyle” division brings together brands from these universes and is organized around four brand collections: Raffles & Orient Express, Fairmont, Sofitel and MGallery and Ennismore, of which Accor recently sold 10% for 185 million euros. “This division will focus on strengthening the identity of its emblematic brands, investing in the best talent, selecting the best locations and offering unique and innovative experiences”.
“By evolving from a generalist model to a multi-specialist model, our objective is to further strengthen Accor’s attractiveness for our talents, our owners, our partners and our investors,” comments Sébastien Bazin. We are thus capitalizing on our leadership positions to accelerate our development, better focus our talents and expertise and improve our performance. »
This organizational project is submitted to the representative bodies of the group’s personnel. This restructuring of the brands should be operational from October 1, 2022.
