The Thai authorities will study at the end of next week the lifting of the pre-departure registration system, the Thailand Pass.

According to Bloomberg , the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) is expected to consider a proposal from the Ministry of Tourism and Sports to remove the Thailand Pass requirement for foreign travelers during their June 17 meeting . Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn told reporters on Thursday.
“Our country has been battered by this pandemic for so long. It is time to make a full attempt to restore our economic growth through tourism. Removing the Thailand Pass will make it more convenient for tourists to come,” said Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn.
This proposal, which will be submitted next week, has the support of the Ministry of Health .
Thais returning from abroad have already been exempted from registering on the Thailand Pass portal since June 1 , but foreign tourists are still required to obtain this sesame by uploading proof of vaccination against Covid-19 (or a negative test for non-vaccinated travellers) and health insurance coverage .
“If the CCSA agrees to cancel the Thailand Pass, it will be more convenient for foreign tourists to enter the country and they will no longer be required to purchase health insurance policies,” reports The Nation quoting the Thai minister tourism.
What are the current arrangements for traveling to Thailand?
Pending a potential removal of the Thailand Pass system from July 1, international travelers should still check in before departure and obtain an approval QR code .
Since June 1, the Thailand Pass issuance time has been significantly reduced, with the Pass currently being approved within hours .
Vaccinated travelers must upload a copy of their passport, vaccination certificate and health insurance with minimum coverage of US$10,000 online.
In replacement of the proof of vaccination, tourists who are not or partially vaccinated are required to insert online a negative result of a PCR or antigen test carried out 72 hours before departure.
Since June 1, Thailand no longer applies any quarantine measures on arrival on its soil.
French tourists are exempt from Thai visa for 30 days of stay and this exemption is renewable for 30 days on site. In the event of a longer stay, or for any other type of travel, obtaining an electronic visa (e-Visa) is necessary.
