The French group is accelerating its international deployment with the opening of this flagship in China, 2h30 from Shanghai and 40 minutes from Hangzhou.
After four years of development, the Huttopia Deqing opened its doors at the beginning of October within the Outdoor Elephant & Moon leisure base. A challenge, in the current context. “We are very proud to see the Huttopia Deqing project come to fruition,” emphasizes Philippe Bossanne, founder and chairman of the supervisory board of Huttopia. Despite the pandemic and the impossibility of traveling to China, we managed to open this new site thanks to the incredible perseverance of our teams and exemplary cooperation with our Chinese partner. To sustain this new village, Huttopia is counting on a very favorable domestic market. The site was sold out in its first week of opening with 100% local customers, 80% of whom were Chinese and 20% expatriates, reports the group.
A new holiday offer
Settled in the heart of a 16-hectare bamboo grove, the village has around a hundred tents, huts and chalets spread around an all-wood living center offering cafe and catering services. The village has two swimming pools with views of the surrounding mountains and a wellness area with sauna and Finnish bath. The site offers various activities: yoga, paddle, hiking, cycling, horse riding…
The Huttopia adventure in China began in 2013 with a first pilot project in the Sichuan region, inaugurated in 2015. Three years later, the company took a new step in its development on the Asian continent by creating a joint- venture with the private Chinese group Hengfeng, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of outdoor equipment, to offer the Chinese market a new range of holidays in the heart of nature.
Under the Huttopia brand or as part of the CityKamp and OnlyCamp networks, the company operates nearly 90 sites in 7 countries, including the United States and Canada.
