As the summer season is fast approaching, Google is improving features to position itself as a travel companion.
Google is launching new tools on Google Flights and Explore “to help Internet users plan their summer vacations with complete peace of mind”, explains the Californian group. The search giant is particularly interested in the “price” factor, as inflation gains ground in all sectors, including travel.
“On Google Flights, you can track prices for specific dates between two cities,” explains Anne-Véronique Baylac, travel sector director for Google France , in a post . Simply search for your destination, opt in to receive an alert, and we’ll email you if prices drop significantly for those dates. (…) Starting today, you can start tracking prices to find deals for any date, and you’ll receive an email if we detect lower than usual rates. This option aims to encourage Internet users to book their flights with partner airlines of the Californian group.
Explorer, a source of inspiration
For those who remain undecided about their next destination, Google is pushing the Explore tool . It is a search solution with filters on criteria such as budget and duration of the trip.
“In the default view, Explore will show flight prices, but now you will also see a pink dot indicating Explore nearby ,” adds Anne-Véronique Baylac. It is thus possible to limit your search to places accessible in a few hours by car. Average hotel prices and forecast weather can be displayed.
Regarding the place of stay, via google.com/travel , it is now possible to search for a hotel or vacation rental within a radius of 15 or 30 minutes on foot or by car.
