Accessible Tourism Trophies 2022: discover the 8 winners

Accommodation structures, visit sites, tourist information or even the jury’s favourite: the eight winners of the 2022 edition of the accessible tourism trophies are now known.

For this eighth edition, the organizers of the Accessible Tourism Trophies received more than 250 applications. 150 projects were pre-selected by a jury of accessibility and tourism experts, before 18 structures were chosen to take part in the final. For the candidates, only one imperative: to be holders of the State Tourism & Handicap mark for the four deficiencies (hearing, mental, motor and visual).

In the “Large accommodation structures” category, the Grande Casse chalet, located in Pralognan-la-Vanoise, was rewarded. The chalet has 23 rooms, all accessible to people with reduced mobility, with equipment, leisure activities and excursions adapted to all types of handicap. In the “Small accommodation structures” category, Meublé Abordage in La Ciotat, located 20 meters from the Lumière sandy beach, won the trophy for its delivery of medical equipment, the presence of nurses or transport adapted to the customer’s request.

A tricycle suitable for people with reduced mobility to visit the Ile de Ré

In the “Tourist offices and tourist information” category, the La Rochelle tourist office wins the favor of the jury. Its interior layout, with a reception desk adapted for people in wheelchairs, accessible displays and touchscreen tablets, “composes a set perfectly suited to all audiences”, according to the jury. In the “Leisure” category, the company “Ré Côtes à Côtes” is rewarded. In the spring of 2019, she created a tricycle offering people with reduced mobility the possibility of visiting the Ile de Ré by bike.

In the “Catering” category, the Regards Café tea room, located on the second floor of the Regards de Provence museum in Marseille, won the trophy. In the “Visit” category, L’Envol des Pionniers, located in Toulouse, was chosen as the winner of the trophy, for its immersive journey dedicated to the early days of aeronautics.

A “coup de coeur” for a Bordeaux bar

The Direction générale des entreprises (DGE), co-organizer of the event, awarded its “golden trophy” to Golfe du Morbihan Vannes Tourisme, for the commitment of its four tourist information offices (Arzon, Sarzeau, Saint-Gildas-de-Rhuys, Vannes) and the training of its advisers in welcoming people with disabilities.

Finally, the “Coup de coeur” trophy from the Tourisme & Handicaps association goes to the Jardin Pêcheur, a Bordeaux bar with cuisine prepared with local produce and run by a team made up of 80% disabled employees.

The accessible tourism trophies are organized by the DGE, the National Agency for Holiday Vouchers and the Tourisme & Handicaps (ATH) association. The award ceremony took place as part of the Handica-Lyon fair.

Created in 2001, the association Tourisme & Handicaps (ATH) has been working for 20 years to promote free access to leisure, holidays and culture for people with disabilities for themselves and their families. To date, nearly 4,200 establishments carry the Tourisme & Handicap brand in France.
