Supported by Ademe, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and L’Echo tourisme, the Horizons Trophies rewarded 12 models of sustainable tourism development this evening.
The first edition of the Trophées Horizons took place in the town hall of the 20th arrondissement of Paris. An event that shines the spotlight on tourism players who are leading the way for the entire sector.
“We had benevolent and constructive exchanges within the jury to establish a demanding and balanced prize list, underlines the president of the association Actors of Sustainable Tourism (ATD). We also ensured the plurality of winners. » TPE, large company, association, institutional, from different French regions: the winners of the Horizons Trophies are intended to reflect our sector, plural. “For this first edition, we wanted to set the bar very high, adds Caroline Mignon. Moreover, the members of the jury decided not to award a prize in the Climate Change category, the files submitted did not completely satisfy them in terms of impact. In the other categories, the president of ATD is delighted with the quality of the very many applications among the 140 applications.
Duplicable initiatives
The Horizons Trophies reward initiatives, not companies. Like that of Nomade Aventure, which tackled medium-haul travel. The agency, awarded in the Mobility category, has duplicated its best-selling trips to Europe by plane in a “low carbon” version. By train of course. “The replicable side of this approach with an impact on international travel appealed to us,” insists Anne-Lise Olivier, coordinator of ATD. Nomade’s strategy can inspire other agencies and tour operators. “Let’s not forget that transport generates 77% of greenhouse gases”, adds Caroline Mignon.

The use of these great specialists (read the complete list below) is a guarantee of seriousness and a major point of differentiation compared to other trophies.
Both the experts and the jury took care to select “sincere initiatives”. Understand free from greenwashing strategy. “We see the consequences of climate change everywhere, which should encourage sustainable tourism,” comments Caroline Mignon. We are particularly attentive to the concepts of local tourism, to the place of the inhabitants, to access to tourism for the greatest number. »
Created in 2011, ATD has 245 members, all committed to a sustainable development approach. The association wants to help them in their transition, in terms of the fight against global warming but also at the societal level.
