How to get back in the saddle, after two years of health crisis? For Barbados, it is urgent to take its tourist future in hand.
Barbados has just launched BookBarbados.com , an online travel booking platform owned and operated by the island.
The young platform of this Caribbean island allows to buy hotel stays, local tours, Airbnb rentals. The site also provides information on the health protocol, tips and recommendations from local influencers.
“BookBarbados.com is the first comprehensive local-owned tourism booking engine for the destination,” explains its designers. Our goal is to showcase our island like no one else can, like a Bajan, while providing a marketplace for locals and visitors to book their Bajan adventures and experiences. (…) This platform offers Bajan companies of all sizes that offer direct and indirect tourist services, a new local option to make themselves known worldwide. »
An e-commerce and marketing platform
“This is what Barbados and much of the region has been missing until now: an e-commerce and travel marketing platform that will place a greater portion of consumer holiday bookings directly between hands of local businesses,” says our American colleague Skift.
So far, BookBarbados.com has integrated 70 accommodations, 20 activities, 30 experiences and 20 car rental companies, says Skift.
The platform was recently accredited by the International Air Transport Association (Iata), which will allow it to market packages. In addition, the hotel group Marriott, established on the spot, would be in talks to join the project.
A top-of-the-range destination, Barbados is mainly frequented by travelers from the United States.
