From this Wednesday, July 6, it is no longer necessary to prove your vaccination status to travel to Australia.
“The Australian Government is making decisions on Covid-related matters after reviewing the latest medical advice and the Chief Medical Officer has advised that it is no longer necessary for travelers to declare their vaccination status as part of our management of the Covid,” Australian Health Minister Mark Butler said in a press release .
Concretely and from July 6, 2022 00:01, travelers will no longer need:
- justify their vaccination status
- complete the online form “Digital Passenger Declaration”
- claim exemptions to enter Australia
The Australian authorities nevertheless advise to inquire about the possible health requirements of airlines and cruise ships in terms of screening. Masks are still required on international flights entering Australia and state and territory orders mandating masks on domestic flights remain in place until further notice.
What formalities to travel to Australia?
Since February 21, 2022 , vaccinated international travelers exempt from short-stay visas can travel to Australia after applying for an eVisitor electronic travel authorization , the same procedure as for an electronic visa (e-Visa).
Australia has not required pre-departure Covid testing since April 18, 2022 , when the country also lifted restrictions on cruise ship entry.
