The luxurious brand has set its sights on the historic Cristallo hotel in Cortina d’Ampezzo to offer itself a first address in the summits.
Sinatra, Nabokov or Saul Bello have stayed there, the mythical Cristallo hotel is about to start a new life by passing under the Mandarin Oriental banner. The group has in fact entered into a long-term agreement with Attestor Limited, which authorizes it to manage the hotel located in Cortina d’Ampezzo under a brand. The establishment will therefore close its doors in the second half of 2023 for major renovations which will include an extension. It will reopen them under the Mandarin Oriental brand in the summer of 2025, ahead of the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics.
The hotel will then have 83 rooms, many with balconies, including 30 suites offering a view of the mountains. It will also house several restaurants and bars, spaces dedicated to corporate events, a spa and a swimming pool.
Skiing, golf and club and hiking
With this operation, the hotel group, which notably operates an establishment in Paris, is taking its first steps in the mountains. The future Mandarin Oriental Cristallo is located in a village in the Dolomites, a few minutes walk from the center of Cortina d’Ampezzo, where you will find starred restaurants. The village can be reached by car from Venice Marco Polo Airport, which is an hour and a half away.
Many activities can be practiced: skiing, golf, hiking, ice skating or climbing… A children’s club, accessible to all ages, will also be available to families. Relying on a massive investment for the production of artificial snow, the Dolomites are now one of the few resorts in the Alps where snow cover is guaranteed throughout the season, underlines the hotel group.
