Selfies continue to make victims on certain tourist sites, in France as elsewhere in the world.
A 30-year-old Indian tourist died on Sunday after falling while taking a selfie from the top of the famous cliff in Etretat (Normandy), according to Le Havre prosecutor Bruno Dieudonné.
“The tide was high and despite the means deployed by the gendarmerie, the body has not yet been found” Monday, still according to the prosecution. Her husband, in shock, “was taken care of by the firefighters and taken to the Pierre Janet hospital” in Le Havre.
An investigation for disturbing disappearance has been opened. Two fatal falls had already occurred at the same location this year. A hiker in her sixties had fallen from the cliffs of Etretat in May and a young woman of 24 in January, both taking photos of the site immortalized by Claude Monet.
