Expedia posts record profitability and revenue in Q3 2022

The financial results of the Expedia group for the period from July to September confirm the phenomenon of “Travel Revenge”.

Like its competitor Booking Holdings , the Expedia group announces an adjusted Ebitda and a record turnover.
“The third quarter marked another period of strong travel demand despite an uncertain macroeconomic environment,” said Peter Kern, its vice president and CEO. We achieved strong financial performance with record quarterly revenues and Adjusted Ebitda, which exceeded $1 billion for the first time. These results reflect our focus on revenue growth while improving margins. »

Hosting generates 80% of turnover

Revenue for the quarter reached $3.6 billion, compared to $2.9 billion in the third quarter of 2021, an increase of 22%. Revenue generated from bookings was $23.99 billion, up 28% year-over-year.

As a percentage of total revenue in the quarter ending September, accommodation accounts for 80%, advertising and media 6%, air 3% and other revenue the remaining 11%.

The American giant notably covers the brands Expedia, Hotels.com, Vrbo, Trivago, ebookers, Travelocity.
